Containers provide a concept for the deployment and orchestration of micro-services e.g. in deployments using Kubernetes. Embedded systems tend to be based on resource-constrained devices that are limited in terms of resources compared to desktop and server computers but have evolve over time to feature significant resources that may be suitable to implement a form of containers. This project will investigate the provision of containers for embedded systems such as Espressif ESP32s, and the orchestration of container-based applications over embedded devices.
