Over the years I have found that many students who propose their own projects using computer vision have been very successful – probably because they are strongly motivated by the subject matter. So if you have an idea for a project in a field which interests you please contact me. The biggest issues are usually makes sure that the scope is appropriate as well as checking what work has already been done in the area.

September 1st, 2026: I have already taken on all of my projects students for this year (2026-27). If this changes I will propose further projects on the system. If you want to do a project in Computer Vision I would suggest that you contact other lecturers in the Graphics and Vision research discipline (such as Binh-Son Hua, Subrahmanyam Murala or Fergal Shevlin).
