This is a Computer Science Education project with particular emphasis on Accessibility and User-centered design.
Parental involvement in Computer Science Education is crucial to promoting participation and greater diversity in STEM. OurKidsCode is a research project which looks to increase parental involvement through the provision of family creative coding workshops. VISION CODE is a special programme to enable young people with vision loss to learn how to code and develop their skills in this area. This project will involve working with both of these projects and families with blind and visually impaired children to adapt the current OurKidsCode model to their needs.
It will broadly involve:
- primary research with the families;
- the design and development of a suitable family coding workshop;
- evaluation of the workshop.
