This project is for the MSc in Statistics and Sustainability.
In this project, we’ll look at the various ways in which ecologists have attempted to answer the question ‘How many species are there?’. Some of these methods are statistical, and we’ll focus on those, but we’ll also take a look at some of the other ways in which they have attempted to answer the question. Where possible, we’ll implement these in R and apply them to data in the Catalogue of Life, a large repository of species descriptions.
