This project explores the visualisation of, and interaction with, volumetric data sets in the form of Voxels (volume elements). Voxel data sets are abundant in medicine, science and engineering and essentially represent exterior and interior structures in the form of a 3D grid of information. This project will develop visualisation of such data sets anchored to real objects in mixed/augmented reality. Furthermore, the project should also investigate interaction with such data sets, in particular by supporting “cutaway visualisation”, where users can carve out elements of the data to expose interior details.
