Taken – Revisiting the SEAI Survey of Irish Attitudes to Wind and Solar Power

The Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) commissioned a national survey of the attitudes of people who live near to 50 new commercial solar or wind farm projects in Ireland. The survey was conducted in 2022. Findings of the survey are available at: https://www.seai.ie/community-energy/enabling-framework/impacts-research/index.xml The data are available through ISSDA: https://www.ucd.ie/issda/data/seaiattitudeswindsolarpower/. This project aims to revisit the dataset and expand on the statistical analysis undertaken. Potential avenues of research could include developing a dashboard to engage with the data, investigate clustering of participants’ attitudes or comparisons to other international data sets.

This project would be ideal for students in the MSc in Statistics & Sustainability programme.
