This project will be in collaboration with Prof. Olive Healy in the School of Psychology and is suitable for students in the Statistics and Data Science, Statistics and Sustainability, and Data Science MSc programmes. The goal of this project will be to analyse data extracted from an online survey of adults who have received a diagnosis of Autism, or who suspect they might meet the diagnostic criteria for Autism, in order to identify potential grouping or inter-connectedness within the various co-occurring diagnosis and individual characteristics measured. The data consists of various demographic factors (e.g., gender, diagnosis status, age at diagnosis), as well as participant scores on a battery of screening measures for diagnoses such as ADHD, depression and anxiety disorders, and eating attitudes. Data surrounding participant scores on a measure of personal psychological resilience are also included. Over the course of the project, the student will perform exploratory analysis and visualisation techniques on the data, with a view to performing a formal analysis by applying model-based clustering and related latent variable models to the data.
