The RFC series has an errata system that is not very effective. The task here is to become familar with that system (and its downsides) and to develop a proof-of-concept for allowing discussion of published RFCs that could supersede current errata-handling. It will be important to document functional requirements for the proposed system and to consider scaling (9000+ RFCs, 30,000+ authors, and commenters variously authenticated e.g. via github) as well as to produce a proof-of-concept implementation that can demonstrate workflows for various kinds of discussions and resolutions of discussions. The proposed system must be entirely based on open-source and suited for self-hosting. One approach to consider may be to do this via enhancements to the existing IETF datatracker. (https://datatracker.ietf.org).
